American Wheel and Tire Nighthawk – Tights and Cape Not Included

Let’s face it, the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is a pretty impressive 4WD vehicle stock from the factory. But at American Wheel and Tire “pretty impressive” doesn’t cut it. When the wizards at American Wheel and Tire got their hands on the Wrangler Unlimited for our Nighthawk build, they transformed the ride from pretty good to totally awesome. When you climb into the custom leather driver’s seat you are going to get all giddy inside. You’ll have to suppress the urge to buy tights and a cape because when you are behind the wheel of the Nighthawk, you’ll feel like it’s a ride that only a super hero would drive.

Aggressive doesn’t adequately describe the Nighthawks stance and profile. Dangerous might be a better word. Covered in a sinister looking gray Kevlar coating, it has a few bright trim features to give it enough of a civilized look that you can clean it up and fit in at the finest restaurant in town (providing you can find a valet that has the guts to park it). But you don’t want this beast just to have a unique ride to a dinner of fillet and prawns.

You want to point this monster towards the nearest wilderness and put it through its paces. At American Wheel and Tire we say, “bring it on.” The Nighthawk is armored up and equipped to take on dirt, rocks, hills, mud, snow, and whatever else the terrain can throw at it.

From Rugged Ridge we have installed a performance vented hood with black aluminum hood catches and black mesh grill inserts. Front and rear protection are courtesy of Poison Spyder Crusher aluminum fenders. Get too close to a boulder or canyon wall? Nighthawk is rigged with our own American Wheel and Tire Rock Rails (with steps). Lower body rocker guards from Poison Spyder round out the body protection for the monster.

Underneath there are a lot of surprises as well including 3.5″ Rubicon Express Super-Flex short arm lift with Bilstein shocks and Rubicon 1.75″ Express spring spacers. Bilstein provides the steering stabilizer. And Poison Spyder makes another appearance providing differential covers for both front and rear. The whole package rolls on gloss black machined 22x12 wheels from RBP wrapped in 37″x13.50″-22 Nitto Mud Grappler M/T tires.

If you get stuck, or you need to rescue a buddy, Nighthawk has Rugged Ridge XHD winch mount front bumper with over rider hoop & D-rings rigged with a Smittybilt X2O 10,000lbs winch and Factor 55 ProLink shackle mount.

And then there are the lights. You can’t have a super hero ride without some wicked lights and the Nighthawk can pump out some serious lumens. The upper windshield has a Poison Spyder mount sporting dual (as in 2) 50” LED light bars. On the hood is a Rigid Industries mount sporting a 20” LED light bar. The headlights are, of course, LED. Recon provides LED smoked turn signals and taillights. And for a truly cool touch, Nighthawk has red LED under carriage lighting.
